FHG Foundations

FHG Foundations: Career & Technical Advising

Written reviews of your own work, a small cohort and a fixed schedule, for 90 days. Foundations adds an advisor's time to your membership. It doesn't unlock any material: everything in the curriculum, including Stage 1 below, is already in the membership.

90 days of advising. $500, one payment.

Requires FHG University membership at $25 a month, billed separately and not included in the $500.

Six learners per cohort, and one cohort at a time. Nobody joins partway through.

1. What you receive

ItemHow manyWhen
Stage 1, self-paced: choose your direction, take an honest inventory of your evidence, and plan one practice task. Open it3 modulesAny time; included in your membership, so you can start before enrolling
Onboarding call: your goal, your constraints, and the first piece of work to review1 (30 minutes)Within your first 10 business days
Written reviews of your own work, each with one revision response4Each pass returned within 3 business days of a complete submission
Check-ins2 (20 minutes)Around day 30 and day 75
Written questions, two in each 30-day period6A substantive first answer within 2 business days
Cohort sessions with the other learners6 (60 minutes)Across the 90 days, on the published schedule

The work you bring is your own: a résumé, a record of evidence from your work, a job-search plan, or preparation for one real application or interview. A lab write-up or a design from the curriculum can stand in for one of them. A beginner doesn't need a portfolio; the onboarding call picks the first piece.

Stage 1 feeds your roadmap. Bring its three outputs (your direction statement, your evidence inventory and your practice plan) to the onboarding call. Stage 1 never uses a question or a review, and it never delays or extends your 90 days: advising starts on its date whether or not you've finished it.

A question that needs more than about ten minutes gets an answer saying where it fits best: a check-in, a session, or one of your four reviews. A further revision beyond the one included can use an unused review, if you agree to that first.

Account, billing and accessibility help never uses a question or a review, and neither does correcting a mistake of ours.

2. How every review works

Every review follows the same five steps, so you always know what you'll get back:

  1. Goal: the decision or outcome this piece of work supports.
  2. Evidence: what you actually supplied, and nothing assumed beyond it.
  3. Rubric: the work checked against its rubric, which says what it covers and what it doesn't.
  4. One priority: the single most useful change, not a list of everything. Anything that must be fixed before the work is shared (confidential details, an unsupported claim) is flagged separately.
  5. Revision: the specific change, and what would count as better.

A review ends with a next action, not a score. If the work already meets the standard, the review says why.

3. Who it's for

If you read this and decide self-study fits you better, that's a good outcome. The membership on its own is complete.

4. What Foundations doesn't include

5. Participant terms

Terms version: 4 October 2026. These terms form part of our Terms of Service.

6. Enroll

Enrollment needs an active membership, and it's open only while a cohort is taking learners. If enrollment is closed, the next step tells you so before any payment is taken.
